You are not  Alone - There is Real Help at Hand

Living with endometriosis can be exhausting, painful and incredibly frustrating. You may have been living with pain for years, trying to explain how you feel to your doctors your family or even your partner, only to feel that nobody really understands what you are going through. You do not have to feel that you are simply expected to put up with pain and discomfort. There are ways of supporting your body and helping you manage some of the physical effects associated with the condition.

You may have been told that your scans are clear, yet you are still experiencing significant pain. You may have had to cancel plans, change the way you work, limit activities you enjoy or simply push through the pain because you have no choice.

'Very comfortable and friendly. Very knowledgeable and professional. we are doing Bowen, energy healing and working on abdomen Scar Tissue from Endometriosis. I have definitely felt a massive improvement on my energy and pain levels - and my waistline is getting smaller. Thank you Olwyn'

Endometriosis, Scar Tissue and Adhesions

Endometriosis affects up to 1 in 7 women and girls in Ireland. There is currently no proven cure for endometriosis, although treatments can help manage symptoms.

Endometriosis can cause inflammation and, for some women, adhesions can develop. Adhesions are areas of sticky tissue that can cause organs and surrounding tissues to become stuck together. Previous surgery can also result in scar tissue and adhesions. These restrictions can sometimes contribute to feelings of tightness, pulling, discomfort and restricted movement around the abdomen and pelvis.

How Sharon Wheeler ScarWork May Help

Sharon Wheeler ScarWork is a gentle, hands-on approach that works with scar tissue, adhesions and restrictions in the tissues. My colleagues who are trained in Sharon Wheeler ScarWork have noticed significant improvements in the symptoms and quality of life of clients living with endometriosis. While ScarWork does not cure endometriosis, working with scar tissue and adhesions may help to improve tissue mobility and reduce some of the discomfort associated with restrictions in the tissues.

It is a complementary approach and is not a replacement for medical care or treatment for endometriosis. The aim is to help you feel more comfortable in your body, move more freely and, where possible, get back to living your life.

My ScarWork experience in Athlone

In 2019 I invited internationally renowned ScarWork trainer Jan Trewartha to Athlone to teach Sharon Wheeler ScarWork for the first time in Ireland. I continue to use  ScarWork in my practice in Athlone. As word spreads the demand increases. I am so delighted to use this powerful modality for Endometriosis clients.

What happens during treatment?

ScarWork is gentle, hands-on work that focuses on the painful and surrounding tissues. I first look at how the tissue feels, moves and sits within the surrounding area. The treatment is adapted to each individual and does not involve force or aggressive work. In fact it is extremely gentle and clients often remark on how relaxing it is.

You remain clothed except for the area being worked on, and I explain what I'm doing throughout the session. The aim is to encourage greater ease and mobility  in tissues and to help you become more comfortable with the area of your body that has felt stuck or painful.
